Tony Langley and his British crew of Gladiator won their first race on the Audi MedCup Circuit when they triumphed in the second race today.
When they stayed offshore, to the right where there was significantly more pressure, Audi Sailing Team powered by All4ONE, Gladiator and Synergy took a big benefit in the testing late afternoon breezes after racing moved to the Rade Sud.
After starting in 11-12 knots of Southerly breeze Audi Sailing Team powered by All4ONE lead from the windward mark all the way to the final run when they extended too far to the right downwind and ran out of the best of the breeze, finishing third behind Synergy.
Quantum Racing were late with their start, got back into the pack, but lost out to finish eighth. So the overall standings are compressed with Quantum Racing leading by just one point from Synergy.
In the 40 Series it was the local team XXII-Marseille skippered by Alain Fedensieu who held their nerve to win their first ever Soto 40 race. In the fitful, unsettled wind Tony Buckingham's Ngoni was leading down the final run, but the French crew, who had lead earlier, stole through to win.
